Rutgers University Police in Camden is located at 409 North 4th Street and consists of 20 full-time police officers and four dispatchers. Rutgers Police Department is one of only 49 college or university police departments worldwide that have earned advanced law enforcement accreditation and is one of twelve law enforcement agencies within the State of New Jersey to achieve this recognition. Our police officers are fully trained and armed with the authority to make arrests.

Rutgers Police Officers patrol the campus 24 hours a day 365 days a year.  Our officers patrol the campus in vehicles, bicycles and on foot with the assistance of over 65 Security Officers.  Rutgers Security Officers are unarmed highly visible observers who are strategically positioned throughout the campus to assist members and visitors of the Rutgers community.  Our trained security officer are equipped and instructed to immediately notify the police if they see or suspect suspicious activity.

Although the police department is the primary division charged with creating a safe and secure environment we can’t accomplish this alone.  Crime prevention and problem solving is everyone’s responsibility.  Please assist us by calling 856-225-6111 to report suspicious activity.
